Week4 – Class activities – Disrupt Thinking Pattern

In this Monday, we did a lot of interesting activities. At the first, students were using 20 matchsticks to create 16 ideas on papers. I think the purpose of this activity is that let us break the conventional way of thinking pattern. We can create many ideas, but these maybe not the good. I think this way can open our minds, and create a lot of ideas for our design. Maybe we can defer judgment, because we need more time and room to think one project.

And the second activity is the most highlights in the class. It is a group activity. Each group has different problems and has same materials. We need to solve the problem with these materials, and set up a model for our idea. We had 15 minutes! And our group’s problem was that how might a public park encourage and facilitate communication and interaction among residents? We created a game public park in order to make people communication. This is our group model.

Now, I explain our model. Firstly, you can choose your favorite movie and how many people join in this game on the reception. Then, you go to the movie theatre watch the related movie. Thirdly, according to you get the key words to written down. The last stage is that you need to buy some foods about the key words. And when you finish the game you can go the communication area to share foods and communicate with each other. And an important thing is that we need to use plastic cups made of telephone in this game.

According to these activities, I learned how to disrupt thinking pattern. We just need to create ideas, because it can help us to create more useful and specific way. Maybe these ideas not right or not useful or silly, but we don not worry it. Just try it, and do more ideas. And I think this way I never try it, because I always think too much and afraid to try it.
